Mr. (John) Thurell will forever be remembered by our family...my Mother worked for him at General Electric in Auburn, NY for years. To this day, I consider Mr. Thurell and his wife, Elena, to be two of the most elegant and welcoming people I've ever had the pleasure to know. I remember, as a little girl and cat lover, he showed me how to pick up a cat properly, and to scratch behind its ears and atop its head to make my Lucy Cat happy. During a strike at GE years ago, he would drive my Mom to work to assure safe passage into the office. And he would come to our house if our GE TV wasn't working right.
It is rare to meet a true gentleman...I'm so glad I had the opportunity.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Thurell's passing. I have many fond memories of both he and his wife while I was growing up. One of my favorites is of him coming to our home to fix the tv, I was so pleased that I could "hold the mirror" so he could see the picture and get it just right.
And then there was the time he sent a 5-Pound box of Fanny Farmer chocolates to me when I was in the hospital for a knee injury. The nurses loved that gift as much as I did!
He was a very kind soul.

We were sad to hear of Uncle Johns passing. I missed his
visits with my Father who always looked forward to seeing his brother. Uncle John and my Father were big followers of baseball and football. Rest In Peace Uncle John. love
Bobby and Jerri.
