Obituary of Robert J. Crosby, Sr
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Robert Joseph Crosby, Sr. on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Bob, as he was known to his friends, passed peacefully at his home as he overlooked his favorite creek, listened to the rushing water, watched his grandchildren play, and was surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Sahara; daughters Erica, Nikki, and Kristina; son Bobby; and five grandsons Steven, Rory, Blake, Mason, and Ethan.
He lived a lifetime of service; faithfully serving his family, community and Nation. He honorably served his country for 20 years as a member of the United States Navy and the United States Naval Reserve, achieving the rank of Gunners Mate (Guns) Chief Senior. During that time he explored the world and shaped countless young minds. He brought that same sense of adventure, thirst for knowledge, and indomitable spirit to his work and home life. He was a lifelong member of I.B.E.W. Local 3, and served as an instructor for their apprenticeship program for many years.
He was a loving husband and father who successfully raised four strong willed children with his equally strong willed wife of 35 years. We will always cherish and laugh over the memories of endless hikes in the woods in search of obscure American history monuments; teaching his children how to dance (as everyone who knows him knows he was an amazing dancer); time spent with his siblings, nephews, nieces, wife, children, and grandchildren creating epic memories; and the numerous lively discussions over history, politics and current events.
His memory lives on in the hearts and minds of all of those he met and couldn't help but positively impact over the course of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family intends to set up a scholarship fund in Bob's memory. Details will be forthcoming. If you are interested in making a contribution, please contact Kristina at kpskurow@gmail.com.
With Love,
Sahara, Erica, Nikki, Bobby & Kristina
