One thing I learned for myself self as a pastor is that the memories we have and cherish of someone is a small part of the memories that person has created in the minds and hearts of the countless other people who also knew that person. Frank McCarthy was a good man who made the world a better place by his faith, his humor, his compassion for others and his personal integrity. Rest in peace, Frank. I, personally am grateful to have known you and to have been your Pastor.

I remember the first time that I met Frank, it was 10 years ago on my first trip with Margaret to meet her family. The 3 of us spent a fascinating day together wandering around Williamsburg and Greenpoint. I recall his enthusiasm for the history of the places he knew as a child and a willingness to share his thoughts on how things had changed. I immediately felt part of his family.
There are other memories of watching World Cup soccer with him in Sidetracks, we were all there too for his 80th birthday, including his bonus English family. Walking through Prospect Park, the diner brunches in Sunnyside, his World View and his great sense of humour.
Dear Frank, it’s strange to think of a world where you will no longer be coaching from the sidelines.

I have known Frank and Loretta as a couple for over twenty-two years. It was Frank and Loretta who went with me to finalize my retirement. Thet were so happy, I was reassured I was not making a mistake. Over the years we have shared dinners, parties and gatherings. Never have I seen either one happier than when they were with each other. It was a beautiful relationship.
Frank certainly will be missed. Georganne Albanese

I loved Frank because of his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and just goodness of heart. He was a remarkable man, and a wonderful friend. He was always helpful and supportive to the people in his life. He enjoyed reading about history, researching his family genealogy, sea days on cruises, and was a great dancer. After he retired, he was so grateful to be able to travel the world together, and see his cherished destinations: Omaha Beach, the Arizona and his childhood wish - the Superstition Mountains. For the last seventeen years Frank has filled our home with joy, laughter, gentleness and comfort. You were simply the best. I will miss you, but our thirty years of friendship will provide an abundance of precious memories to cherish.
