Obituary of Paul Rivas

In loving memory of Pablo Rivas, also known as Paul Rivas, born on April 21, 1962, who left this world on January 18, 2024, at the age of 61 in Woodside, N.Y. He is survived by his mother Maria Berta Baca, sisters Olga Rivas, Dolores Baca, Elise Beth Celi; nephews Edward Gonzalez and John Jairo Gonzalez; nieces Joanna Gonzalez, Genesis Celi, and Jacqueline Celi; and life long friend and partner Libia Toro. Pablo Rivas immigrated from Ecuador to Queens, New York at the age of 12. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new society, he discovered purpose. At a young age, he became a United States Marine. After his discharge, he worked for the Food and Beverage industry for many years, assuming different positions at the Empire, Barbizon, and Loews Hotels in Manhattan. Later on in life he pursued a BBA at Queens College; his journey led him to find an honorable position with the MTA as a Power Cable Maintainer, where he worked up until his untimely passing. All his determination and achievements leave a legacy with his New York family and extended family in Ecuador. Visitation will be Monday, January 22 from 4-8PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Queen of Angels RCC, 44th Street And Skillman Avenue, Sunnyside, NY. Entombment will be in St. John Cemetery, Middle Village on Tuesday, January 23 at 11:30 am.
