Obituary of Vartouhi Der Kaloustian
Vartouhi Der Kaloustian, (Yeretsgin) our adored Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, August 9th surrounded by her devoted and loving family. She was preceded in death by husband Archpriest Der Moushegh, her parents Murad and Serpouhi Sarkissian, her brother Harout and sister Sosi. She is survived by her Children, Garo, Shoghig, and Nareg. Her grandchildren, Justina, Adam, Ani, Taleen, and Sona. Great Grandchildren, Caden, Brynn, Landon, and Zabelle and her sister Anahid Chantian and Brother, Vartan Sarkissian and their children.
Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There is nothing she wouldn't do for them. She would cook their favorite foods when they came to visit her. She made sure everyone was fed and cared for. So many of her children's friends wanted to be adopted by her. She was everyone's mother and grandmother. If you told her you liked something, you could be sure that it would be in the mail to you in bulk. Her grandchildren and Great Grandchildren could count on their birthday, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and Valentine's Day cards to arrive 3 weeks before the date. They will remember her always saying, "Don't worry, be happy" time and time again. A true Armenian grandmother who put her family above all else. Her Grand Daughters watched and helped her cook so they could write down recipes that were never written down. Life will never be the same without her but the family will carry on. Their hearts are filled with great sorrow at the loss of their Medz Mama. Their memories of her will comfort them and guide them. She was loved by her friends who meant so much to her. She was faithful to her church and was committed to help any way she could. Church was a very important part of her life. She was a Yeretsgin who was the epitome of dignity and class. A selfless servant of the church.
In lieu of follows, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to St. Illuminator's Armenian Apostolic Cathedral, 221 E. 27th Street, New York, NY 10016, Thank you.
