My grandmother was a beautiful and very strong woman. She always moved forward and held her head up high no matter what she’s going through or been through. She’s the first person to take my sisters and I to Coney Island for the first time when I was around 11 or 12 years old maybe. She loved to cook for us, or to do just anything she can for us. Anytime we went to visit her, she would have something to give or pass down to us. I remember when we were younger she would be real strict with us at times and sometimes I didn’t like it, but I always knew it was tough love, and I always knew she wanted the best for my sisters and I. She wanted the best for her entire family. Grandma would take us to the pool, the beach, the park, the movies, she would always want to go out and spend time with us, and she would always put it in our minds that we had to be smart, strong, and independent, and we loved her for that. I only wished these same things, my nephew could’ve experienced for himself. We will miss her and and always loved her. Rest In Peace Grandma. <3 -Nayasia Garrett
