Obituary of Henry C. Lao

Henry C. Lao, 78, of Woodside, NY passed away on January 29, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Astoria. Henry suffered from a stroke with various complications. Henry was born in Manila, Philippines. He went to Hope Christian High School and Chiang Kai-shek College but had to stop in order to work and provide for his family after his father died. He became a successful salesman in the textile industry where he met his wife and later on a salesman for Fuji Lime. He worked overseas in Japan and Taiwan prior to migrating to the United States in 2001 and becoming a citizen in 2013. Henry was an avid sports participant in bowling and competed and won in an international team tournament in Taiwan. He was also a swimmer, and played soccer, tennis, and golf. He was a loving husband of 53 years to Julie, an amazing father to his daughter Josie (and Rob Elmers) and son Eric. He is a kind and generous "Lolo" or grandfather to Rachael, Julia, Jared, Ariel, Josiah, Ringo, Erica, Micah, Jerico, Jeremy, Jerome, Ericel, Jerald, and Shellamar. He is also survived by his youngest sister Fely Alvarado Lim. He is preceded in death by his parents Lao Hu Giok and Lao Tiu Eng, his brother Ernesto, and his sister Susan. A funeral service will be held at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home on Feb. 3, 2021 at 6pm with Reverend Charlie S. Bantoc officiating. A viewing will be held from 3-6pm.
