Obituary of William "Billy" J. Gaine

William Gaine (Bill) was born in London, England to William and Kathleen Gaine on December 21, 1955. Bill moved with his family to Dublin, Ireland in 1969. After graduating school, he trained as a chef and worked in the hospitality industry in Ireland before moving to New York in 1977. He continued to work in the hospitality industry in New York and attended the Culinary Institute of America. Bill loved to cook and travel with his partner, Anne. His other passions were following football (GAA football and soccer) particularly his favorite teams, Kerry and Manchester United. Bill also loved horse racing. His favorite place and time was handicapping on the rail at Saratoga race track anytime in August. Bill is predeceased by his mother Kathleen (née Dolan), father William and sister Mary. He is survived by his partner, Anne, brothers, Sean, Seamus and Eddie and sisters, Kathleen, Bridget and Debbie. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all including nieces and nephews, god children, "in laws" and other extended family and friends in the United States and Ireland. Visitation will be Thursday, March 21 from 6-9PM at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, Inc, 43-07 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Queen of Angels RCC, 44th Street And Skillman Avenue, Sunnyside, NY. Cremation will take place at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village following the Mass.
