It was with great sadness I heard of the passing of my dear friend Sean.
I got to know Sean when I first came to the US over thirty years ago and we remained close friends right up until his passing.
We had wonderful times up in Gaelic Park in the Bronx. The Mayo dinner dances, the card games down at the Irish Center in LIC. Watching Mayo football, Eating out Etc.
Like myself, he was Mayo to the backbone through and through.
He also used to put up my friends whenever they came over from Louisburgh Co. Mayo on vacation to the US. His generosity never failed.
That was Sean, always willing to help out his friends.
He would tease me constantly about the sheep over my way, ( Louisburgh ) how they were half starved..lol....lol.........No meat on them he would say.......lol.......
The sheep over your way, you couldn't give them away, never mind trying to sell them at the mart he would say.....lol.........Yee would be better of rearing Goats over there......lol....lol...............I used to be in tears with laughter.
The best land in Mayo is in and around Ballyhaunis he would say and of course he was right but I would never admit to that. I had to stick up for my end of the County
You will truly be missed but...NEVER...forgotton. Rest in peace my friend.

One of the sweetest gentlest souls I ever met. And a real character - the star of the show in the early days of the NYIC Computer Club. It was always more fun when Sean was there. So glad to have known him. An absolute gentleman. Rest In Peace Sean.

Uncle Sean was indeed a very generous man to his Parents Brothers Sisters Nieces & Nephews. As small children in Ballyhaunis we loved the many many parcels he sent over the years, full of all the American sweets & treats. Particularly the Christmas cakewith the hole in the centre. We thought this was amazing. Thebubble gum in various colours really facinated us, as did the sachets of “Iced Tea”
Sean never lost touch with his Mayo roots, & enjoyed nothing better than a good Mayo football match. I always phoned with the result, but he knew how all the County teams were doing always. Sean loved the St Patrick’s Day Parade In NY, & always walked proudly with his fellow Mayo men. Up to a couple of years ago he attended the Mayo Ball in the Emerald Isle centre without fail. That was the highlight of the year. Thank you for your kindness to us all.
Rest In Peace with the Lord. Sean.
Deirdre & Geraldine.

Uncle Sean was indeed kind to a fault and he was very good to his parents and his family who loved him so much.
I liked being in his company, there was always great excitement in Manchester when he came over and stayed with my mother. The house was lively with all the visitors and the comings and goings. He delighted in treating my mum Kathleen, and his sisters Agnes and Lily to a meal out at each visit. The 7 brothers and sisters in England never lost an opportunity to celebrate being together. The chaos was magnificent.
Rest in peace Uncle Sean. We will greet you in Ballyhaunis on Thursday.
