I was extremely saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. He was a truly authentic character and genuinely good person. As a young hire, Tom took me under his wing and was the type of person you could ask any question to without fear of judgement. I once mentioned a love of a type of cookie and the next thing I knew Tom had stopped at a bakery in Brooklyn so I could try the best pine nut cookies in NYC. Although we lost touch over the years, I will remember him and his thoughtful ways. Rest In Peace Tom.

My husband, Andrew Dykeman, and Tom often went on excursions. This is a photo from a day trip to Storm King, when they let me tag along. Tom was very interested in art and it was fun to hang out with the guys and hear his commentary. He was always sweet to me, and would send me funny emails and texts. He was a dear friend to Andy and I feel so lucky to have known him.

I was profoundly saddened to hear about Tom's passing. My heartfelt condolences to family and friends.
Tom was one of a kind. Though he enjoyed being surly at times, he was also very supportive and encouraging. Honest with how his own life was going, I never heard him complain that life was unfair. He knew what wasn't working or what could be better, but he also knew he had to play the hand he was dealt, as difficult as that hand was at times.
He always brought a smile to my face. He was as authentic as they come and to me, he was always kind.
Rest in peace, Tom. You are dearly missed.
Take care my friend,
Valerie

Tom was a long time friend of my son Lance and myself. Lance and I both enjoyed time spent when together. He will be missed by me and hopefully he is with Lance chatting away about computers.
Miss you Tom.

Tom was a great guy, I always enjoyed talking to Tom, and I know that other people did as well because he was always my go-to source for office gossip. Over the years we had countless stress-relieving, cathartic discussions, both at and outside of work. Tom always kept his friends in mind; If you told Tom that you liked a band, or a technology, or really anything, he would act as your personal information delivery service, curating and promptly forwarding along any news or articles that aligned with your interests.
Sadly, Tom and I drifted apart after I moved out of NY, I have posted a picture that was taken the last time I saw Tom person which was in 2012 when he came out to my birthday party in Westchester.
Unfortunately, Beth and I won’t be able to attend the memorial service as we will not be in NY, but if I could be there to share a memory of Tom, I would relay the story of when Tom came to one of our BBQ’s.
I invited Tom to the BBQ and told him not to bring anything; I was doing burgers, veggie burgers, and dogs. Tom showed up and brought with him two of the biggest sacks of raw chicken you have ever seen, there were in massive ziplock bags, and the chicken was soaking in some kind of marinade. He told me the marinade was homemade, and that it was terrific, I had so many questions:
• Aren’t you a vegetarian?
• How do you know what the marinade tastes like on chicken?
• Why did you bring 10 Lbs. of it?
But I did not ask him any questions; I was just glad that Tom came to my BBQ…
Rest in peace my friend.

I only knew Tom through my brother Jon and had the pleasure of meeting him a few times in the early 90's. Occasionally we emailed each other, just chatting. He would send me interesting articles about animals especially parrots that he thought I would enjoy.
I wish I had known him better, he was a dear friend to my brother, generous to a fault.
Thank you Tom. Peace.

Tom was like the owner of the house that as a kid, I was cautious to approach when Trick or Treating on Halloween. Tom was rarely seen. There were no welcoming decorations outside. And while the porchlight was on, signaling that there might be goodies inside, it was weather-worn and dim. I found the courage to approach but had to knock hard on the door for Tom to answer. When he ushered me inside, I went down a long hallway to get to the main room. Tom insisted I remove my mask. I always wore my ex-military policeman outfit with mirrored sun glasses, so my eyes were hidden. Once my true identity was revealed, he appreciated my costume with gusto and let go a laugh that filled the house. With all fear gone, I realized the inside of the house was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The furnishings, the books, the pictures, the knick-knacks where all unique. Each item had a story. Some were happy, some were sad, but all were interesting. When the telling of the story was over, and it was time to go Tom reminded me to take my treat. No need, it was already given.

I took this photo of Tom (and this epic sweater) in 1999. Tom, Melissa, Joe, Mike, Mel and I went out for drinks after work and laughed for hours.

Tom gave me this picture almost 11 years ago when my son was born. It still hangs in his room. I'd like to think wherever you are, the sun is shining and you are at peace.
