Obituary of Charles W. Smith

Smith– Charles W. passed away in his home on September 25, 2018 after a battle with cancer. Charlie was born on February 9, 1929 in Elmhurst, New York. He was the beloved husband of Audrey Smith for 63 years, loving father of Peter, Mark, Lori, Drew, and Terry, proud grandfather of Brian, Christine, Lauren, Michael, Alexa, Chelsea, Samantha, Dylan, and Brendan, great grandfather to Emily, and fond father-in-law to Kerry, Sandy, and Alex. Charles served with the 64th Air Division during the Korean War. He worked for Caltex for 35 years and travelled the world on business. After his retirement in Hampton Bays, Charlie continued to travel extensively with his wife Audrey. One of his great joys was to spend summers with his family at the Southampton Peconic Beach Club. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 28th at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home at 43-07 Queens Blvd., Sunnyside, NY from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Martyr RC Church on Saturday, September 29th, 721 W. Broadway, Long Beach, NY at 10:00 am. Prior to the Funeral Mass, Air Force Military Honors will be conducted @ 9:45AM.
